ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT RESPONSE TRAINING

ACTIVE SHOOTER INCIDENT RESPONSE (ASIR) is Active Shooter training tailored to your situation. We go beyond the standard “Run - Hide - Fight” training most companies offer. Our philosophy revolves around taking a more proactive and customized approach to training your employees. Based on a SECURITY THREAT ASSESSMENT and its results, we can take what we learn about your organization and apply it to our training programs to ensure maximum retention and comprehension of knowledge. This will help your employees make the right decisions and prevent hesitation during active shooter incidents.

Our ASIR program is a 16-hour class broken into two days and includes instruction on how to recognize a potential active shooter, behavioral threat indicators, phases leading to an active shooter incident, physiological changes that might occur during an event, actions to take during an active shooter incident, how to move safely through a building, and post-event actions. We then teach the students how to move safely through a building as part of a “dry run” before proceeding to a demonstration and finally training scenarios. These scenarios are meant to simulate an actual active shooter entering your facility and attacking employees. This allows people to feel some of the stress and pressure of a real-world incident in order to help prepare them for the real thing. We then conduct an After-Action Review where we highlight any improvement areas, congratulate outstanding performers, and ask employees for any suggestions or ideas.

ASIR is based on DoD and DHS recommendations and policies and is essentially what we taught thousands of servicemembers on how to react to an active shooter incident. We feel it is important to delve into the psychology of an active shooter and what a person might experience physiologically during an event, so they gain a better understanding of the importance of being prepared for an incident.

Due to our certifications and instructor capabilities, we are also able to offer more than just a class and scenarios. TACTICAL COMBAT CASUALTY CARE (TCCC) techniques can be incorporated into the training event to enhance employee response and survivability. TCCC focuses on “stopping the bleed” and is the standard for medical training for the US military and most police departments. WORKPLACE DE-ESCALATION TACTICS training can be used to help HR and supervisors stop a disgruntled or distressed employee from becoming an active shooter before a problem even arises.
